Teacher Centered vs Learner Centered

I am definitely a learner centered teacher. Ever since university, my style of teaching had students talking more than me. Perhaps it was because I like listening more than talking. I learn so much more that way. However, collaboration and discussion is even better for speaking through a thought or hashing out a problem.

For the learning inventory, I had chosen all of the paradigms mentioned for learner-center as well as assessment being used to monitor learning. According to Oxford Concise English Dictionary, monitoring means that something or someone is observed and checked over a period of time. I feel that in order to help facilitate learning and coach it, teachers should be doing this as well. I also feel that students themselves should be monitoring themselves by using the rubrics and checklists of “I know how to say…” or “I know the concept of gravity is…”
