Partner Interview Assessment

The first two interviews are about me and the last interview is about Monique.

INTERVIEW ONE

Monique Jordan

Please let me introduce Jeanne (pronounced like Gina) Norville who was born and raised in beautiful Bermuda.  I can honestly say that I am envious!  She was very lucky that she did not lose electricity for long during Hurricane Igor!

Jeanne is a wife and mother of twins (age 4), boy and a girl.

They are at such a fun age that Jeanne is able to enjoy them and they bring many smiles to her face!!

She teaches French to high school students from grade 8 to 12 and is also the Instructional Leader of Foreign Languages. It used to be called Head of Department.  Her true love is sharing her passion for technology with other teachers within their classrooms.

In 2004, Jeanne received her Masters in Curriculum and Technology Integration via the online program with U. of Phoenix. This allowed her to experience education differently than the traditional method she was use to.  Her classes this year will be full of online activities. This course will introduce Jeanne to some strategies and theory that can be used in her hybrid classes.

In her last course she learned how to create surveys and quizzes in Moodle and giving students a specific amount of time to complete it. This proved to be a great strategy for an assessment.    Monique (NH)

INTERVIEW TWO

Judith Satkiewicz

That hurricane that hit Bermuda last week was for most of us an interesting news story but for Jeanne Norville and her family that was their reality – buying emergency coolers, flashlights, batteries, winds howling, and tree limbs breaking. Thankfully, Jeanne and her family weathered the storm in stride.

Jeanne and I were classmates this summer – both of us taking the first course in this series on online teaching. When asked how she selected UW-Stout, Jeanne replied that an online search brought her to the program. The courses listed really were right on target for her and the staff was very helpful. (My experience as well!). When Jeanne isn’t taking care of her family (twins!), she is the Department Head of Foreign Languages for the CedarBridge Academy, a Bermuda high school. School only started two weeks ago and the schedule crashed so you can imagine how hectic the situation has been.

Jean would like to gain a better understanding of both traditional and online assessment as her goal for this class. She has shied away from assessment issues in her early years of teaching but now feels ready to tackle the issue.

Welcome, Jeanne!

INTERVIEW THREE

Jeanne Norville

About Monique Jordan…

I enjoyed reading about this driven, energetic lady. She immediately endeared me to her because of her concern for me and my family who have survived the likes of Hurricane Igor! She cruised to Bermuda from Boston in 1994, so she knows how beautiful these islands are.

At the moment, she has a few jobs. She is the Director of Merchandise Planning and Allocation at Timberland. How exciting is that! Also, she teaches online for the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Endicott College.

When she received her Master’s in Business Education, she became an adjunct professor at a community college.

Monique has lived in Singapore and the UK, where she experienced online learning when she received a graduate certificate in International Business at Southern New Hampshire University. Wow! I’m impressed! Now, she is enrolled in the UW-STOUT E-Learning certificate program expanding more of her knowledge base to have more online teaching opportunities. She wants to spend more time with her 13 year old daughter whom she cherishes above all else…well of course she also cherishes her husband, poodle and a few pet chickens.

For this program, she is taking 2 courses at the moment – the E-Learning course and this one. For the Assessment course, Monique would like to become more comfortable and aware of all the different options to incorporate into online courses.

Monique appears to have a fast paced life, except for the raising of chickens part! I look forward to working with her and everyone else in this course.

Jeanne Norville (Bermuda)
